The Savegre River offers one of Costa Rica’s most scenic and family-friendly white water rafting experiences, combining Class II and III rapids with breathtaking rainforest landscapes. This full-day adventure is perfect for first-time rafters, families, and anyone looking for excitement that is thrilling yet manageable.

Your journey begins with a 4x4 ride through remote areas of Costa Rica’s tropical rainforest, leading to the small local town of Silencio, known for its strong cooperative community and rich history. Before hitting the river, you’ll stop at a traditional Costa Rican restaurant to choose your lunch and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Once on the river, you’ll paddle through a 13-mile (21 km) stretch of flowing rapids aboard sturdy rafts designed for 2 to 6 people. Led by internationally trained, bilingual guides and supported by experienced safety kayakers, you’ll work as a team to navigate the river safely and confidently because teamwork truly makes the dream work.

Along the way, guides will stop at calm swimming spots and beautiful waterfalls, giving you time to relax, cool off, and enjoy the surroundings. The Savegre River is also famous for its abundant wildlife; sightings often include egrets, ospreys, toucans, parrots, kingfishers, and many other native species found in this protected primary rainforest.

After completing the rafting section, return to Silencio for a hot, traditional Costa Rican lunch and refreshments before enjoying a peaceful ride back to Manuel Antonio, tired, happy, and proud of having conquered one of Costa Rica’s most iconic rivers.
