Option #1: Horseback riding to Arenal Volcano

Enjoy an unforgettable experience on horseback to the imposing Arenal Volcano. The tour begins with a leisurely 1.5 km ride along the road to the volcano, then enters the Arenal Volcano Private Ecological Park.

Along the way, you will ride alongside a beautiful volcanic lake and traverse trails surrounded by lush tropical forest. Further on, you will reach the ancient lava rivers, where you will take a short 10-minute walk along a rocky trail to a lava flow.

From this point, you can take spectacular photographs and learn about the eruptions of 1968 and 2010. On clear days, you can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Arenal, the Guanacaste mountain range, Tenorio Volcano, and even Lake Nicaragua.

Option #2: Horseback riding to the Arenal River Canyon

This tour takes place on a private farm surrounded by primary and secondary forest. In some sections, it is necessary to cross the road. The tour offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Arenal River Canyon and the rainforest.

It is an ideal option for adults, but also easy enough for children. During the tour, naturalist guides will share information about the local flora and fauna. It is sometimes possible to see monkeys, toucans, wild turkeys, hawks, falcons, and other species.

In some cases, you can also visit a Maleku indigenous community to learn about their culture.
